Latest iOS 8 Beta Build Brings 'Tips' App, Multiple Tweaks

Apple today released the latest developer build of iOS 8, and while it's full of little tweaks and tips, it doesn't have any of the significant additions we've been seeing in previous releases. This new focus on polishing means that the Cupertino company's likely in the final stages of getting the operating system ready for release sometime this fall.

The most significant new addition is a "Tips" app that tells you about little iOS 8 tricks and shortcuts. Included in the app, too, are simple directions for turning key features on or off.

If you'd like to get a head start of learning the tricks in the app, you can head over and look at the accompanying web page Apple released today as well and test out the voting feature. There's currently only entries for eight or so new features in iOS 8, but many more are expected to be added in the coming weeks.

Cult of Mac has a good rundown of all the other tweaks included in the release, such as a new option for bolded text throughout the iOS interface, Siri's new live talk-to-text feature for Messages, and blurred lines for the interface in the Control Center.

Numerous other smaller tweaks made their way in as well, such as customized swipe gestures for the Mail app, new icons, and rearranged menu options.
