Alleged Leaked Photos Show Front and Back Panels of 'iPhone 6' Together

Aug 20 2014 12:00AM EST | Source: MacLife.com

We've seen countless mockups of the upcoming 4.7-inch "iPhone 6" over the last few months, but only now are we starting to see what appear to be completed casings of the actual device. The latest "leak" comes from Feld & Volk, a luxury iPhone accessory maker, and it apparently grants us an idea of what the front and back casings of the device will look like together for the first time.

Feld & Volk shared a couple more images with MacRumors after the original posting on Instagram. Judging by the company's calculations after placing the display under a microscope, the screen of the upcoming smartphone will boast a resolution of 960x1704. That's a big jump from the iPhone 5s's resolution of 640x1135, but the dimensions themselves suggest that Apple may simply expect developers to scale up their apps for the display.

Apple is believed to be announcing the new iPhones at a media event on September 9, and the increasingly numerous leaked parts stories suggest that the company's on track to meet the date. Most of the alleged leaks so far have been for the smaller rumored 4.7-inch iPhone, which implies that the 5.5-inch model may still be a few months off. (If, that is, we see it at all.)

While there's no confirmation from Apple itself, of course, the usual anonymous "sources associated with the production line" tend to report the launch date should fall on September 19 (although some have claimed September 25).
