Description:
Concentration is
a game of memory that should be familiar to most. In this version, a grid of
49 squares contains 24 pairs of images. The center square is 'free' and will
clear as soon as it is clicked. When the game starts, all the squares are covered,
and play begins by clicking on a square. Each time a square is clicked, it will
show the image it contains. If no other images are showing, then the image remains.
When a second square is clicked, its image is displayed and if it matches the
other image showing, both will be cleared from the board, and the score will
be incremented. If it does not match, then the next square clicked will hide
these two images again. Play continues until the board is cleared.
There are three types of
games that can be played at one of three different difficulty levels. Theses
can be selected using the Action Menu, and are described below.
Casual - This game
involves clearing the board once by matching all of the images. The time starts
at zero and counts up, and the score is updated every time a pair is matched
based on how quickly it is matched. Earlier matches count much more than later
ones.
Beat the Clock -
This game requires that the board be cleared within a specific time. If it is
cleared in time, another board is set up and the timer is reset. The game continues
until the time runs out before a board is cleared. The score is updated every
time a pair is matched based on how many pairs have been matched on that board
as well as the difficulty level. In addition to the score, the difficulty level
also controls the starting time for each new board.
Shuffle - This game
is based on the Casual game, with a twist. After a period of time, based on
the difficulty level, all of the remaining images on the board are shuffled
to new locations. Scoring is the same as the casual game.
Game timers and colors for
the different game components can be modified to customize the way it looks and
plays. Concentration is shareware, and the until it is registered all games will
time-out after 1 minute.
