iOS 8.0.1 Said to Bring Fixes for Bugs Affecting Safari, Phone, Keyboard, and More

iOS 8 has had an impressive first week, but it hasn't been without bugs. Reports this morning revealed an impressive adoption rate for the new mobile operating system (even though it lags behind IOS 7's), but so many of those first-week users are finding numerous flaws in the platform. Much as with the release of iOS 7, however, Apple is wasting little time setting out to repair them. In fact, an update aimed at most of the issues is allegedly already in the works.

According to MacRumors, we'll see a host of options in iOS 8.0.1, although there's apparently no fix for the rampant issues with Wi-Fi users have been experiencing. According to anonymous sources who spoke the site, the update will bring a fix to the iOS 8 keyboard, which was preventing the keypad from appearing when trying to enter iCloud Keychain verification codes. A bug associated with the Phone app's call forwarding and freezes with visual voicemail will also be fixed, along with a bug that prevents videos from playing while using Safari.

MacRumors rounds off the report with word that the patch "addresses an issue with installing VPN profiles" and that it "fixes AirDrop support for Passbook passes." The update should hopefully fix a number of other issues that aren't quite as visible, but if the information is correct, it'll likely be merely the first in a string of updates over the coming days and weeks.

As for when we'll see it? There's no word yet, but it's possible it won't be long given that the patch is "already in the hands of partners for testing and approval."
